What TextTrace does

TextTrace turns supported chat export files, selected backup data where available, screenshots, photos, scans, and screen recordings into source-linked records you can review, search, and export. Structured files may be parsed locally. Necessary unique frames from visual sources are processed through the TextTrace backend with Google Vision OCR. Supported sources, formats, and platform capabilities may change.

Parsing, OCR, speaker detection, timestamps, attachments, and exports can contain omissions or errors. You must compare important results with the retained source before relying on or sharing them and keep an independent backup of important material.

Your content

You retain your rights in content you select. You grant TextTrace and its service providers a limited, worldwide permission to host, copy, transmit, process, and format that content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and support the service. You represent that you have the rights and permissions required to collect, process, record, and share the content, including any consent required from other participants. TextTrace does not acquire ownership of your content.

Acceptable use

Do not use TextTrace to violate privacy, interception, recording, intellectual-property, export-control, sanctions, or other laws; harass, exploit, or harm anyone; process content you have no right to use; distribute malware; attempt unauthorized access; bypass limits or security; reverse engineer except where law permits; interfere with the service; or misrepresent an altered or incomplete export as an unmodified original. You are responsible for your use and disclosures.

No legal or forensic certification

TextTrace is an organization and export tool. It is not a law firm, notary, court, expert witness, evidence custodian, or forensic certification service and does not provide legal advice. A retained source, hash, manifest, OCR result, or export does not by itself establish authenticity, completeness, chain of custody, admissibility, or legal sufficiency. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and proceeding; obtain qualified advice when the stakes are legal, regulatory, employment-related, or evidentiary.

Auto-renewable subscriptions

TextTrace Pro is offered in weekly and yearly auto-renewable subscription periods. The exact product, duration, localized price, and any introductory offer are displayed before you confirm purchase. Both periods unlock the Pro features described in the paywall for the active subscription period.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm. The subscription automatically renews for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple may charge the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel in Apple Account settings; deleting TextTrace or your anonymous TextTrace account does not cancel the subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Use Restore Purchases to request restoration of an eligible active purchase.

Billing, trials, and refunds

Apple, not TextTrace, processes App Store payments, taxes, renewals, cancellations, and refunds. Any free trial or introductory price applies only if shown by Apple at purchase and converts as disclosed unless cancelled in time. Unused time is not refunded or credited except where Apple’s rules or applicable law require it. Request refunds through Apple. RevenueCat is used to validate transactions and subscription entitlement but does not process your card payment.

Privacy and third-party services

Our Privacy Policy explains information processing. Apple, Google/Firebase/Google Cloud, Google Vision, and RevenueCat provide parts of the service under their own terms. Their availability and acts are outside our direct control. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for TextTrace except as stated in the Standard EULA and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms to the extent the Standard EULA provides.

Availability, updates, and termination

We may patch, update, add, limit, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain security, reliability, compatibility, legal compliance, or provider availability. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, continued support for every source format, or error-free OCR. You may stop using TextTrace at any time. We may restrict or terminate service access for material breach, abuse, security risk, or legal necessity. Sections that by nature should survive—including ownership, payment, disclaimers, and liability limits—survive termination.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law and subject to the Standard EULA, TextTrace is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. TextTrace is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, opportunity, reputation, or data; or decisions made from an OCR result or export. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights or excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes, governing terms, and contact

We may update these terms for product, processor, security, or legal changes. Material changes will use a revised effective date and any notice required by law. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms where permitted. These terms, the Standard EULA, Apple’s purchase terms, and mandatory law applicable to you govern the service. Questions: ataerdal.dev@gmail.com.
